This course will allow students to experience engineering or architectural design by working for real companies (clients).  Students design solutions using 3D CAD, 3D printers and laser cutters to model and build prototypes. This is an opportunity to strengthen your capability to drive concepts toward tangible outcomes. Previous clients have included: SkullCandy, Elliott WorkGroup, University of Utah, Utah STEM Action Center, Siemens, Hill Air Force Base, Park City EATS, Wadsworth Engineering, Method Studios, Ikos, and others. Students interested in electronics and circuitry will also find opportunities to design and build. Students may opt to earn certifications in any of the Autodesk Suite of programs to add to their resume.

Thinking about starting your own business? Want to plan and execute the next great marketing campaign? Do you envision becoming a positive business disruptor or change agent? This course will give students the skills to drive ideas toward tangible outcomes. You will meet and learn from influential business leaders who may become valuable contacts for  your internship, college and career seeking endeavors. Students will work on projects for real companies (clients) which may range from: social media campaigns, product launches, market research, social media influencer strategy, product development, sales strategy, human resource strategy, and more. Previous clients include Back Country, Skull Candy, Intermountain Park City Hospital, Park City Canyons, U.S. Ski & Snowboard, Wework and others. Students will also earn certifications in Google Digital Garage.

Business Solutions

Dreaming of a career in the Graphic Design, Commercial Art, Film, Photography or Animation world? Students will take part in commercial design from client research & initial brainstorming ideas, to concept, & final product presentation. This course can be the jumping-off point to a rewarding job during or after college. Past clients have included Vail, Jeremy Ranch Golf & Country Club, Nuzzles & Co., Breakfast @ Dana's, Chicks Company, People's Health Clinic, The Electric Moose Band, and more. Learn to create professional, well-designed logos, 2D & 3D animation, websites, or films to promote products, businesses, & events in local, national or  international markets. You might see your designs in print, around town, or digitally. We offer 27" monitors for your laptops and HD Wacoms.

Digital Design

Students will develop professional skills as well as technical skills by applying technology to solve real-world problems for regional companies (clients). Local coding industry experts will mentor students during the lifecycle of the project.  This is a great way to become exposed to the possible career paths within the software industry and meet valuable industry contacts. Programming skills are a plus, but not a requirement. Project types may include simple game development, web page development, GIS data management, or application development. Past clients have included: The University of Utah, Park City Chamber of Commerce, Adelear, Stronger Brains, Hallo and others. Students will earn MTA certification in a programming language of their choice.

Software Solutions
Health & Medicine

This course is designed for those interested in professions in sports medicine such as athletic training, physical therapy, orthopedics and sports performance. Guided by Park City High School’s team of certified athletic trainers, students will demonstrate a variety of skills relative to emergency care, evaluation and treatment; musculoskeletal systems; taping and wrapping skills; care and prevention; and strength training and nutrition. Students will work on projects for real sports medicine professional (clients) which are intended to enhance the field of sports medicine or the PCHS athlete experience. Previous clients include: Intermountain Park City Hospital, The Kutcher Clinic, Power To Shred, U.S. Ski & Snowboard,  Heiden Orthopedics and others. Students will earn certifications in CPR/AED, and First Aid for the adult, child, and infant. Students are provided with several field trip opportunities including: The Utah Valley University Cadaver Lab, health career fairs which may be taking place during the semester, and the University of Utah Orthopedic Center. Students will also receive a backstage pass to Intermountain Park City Hospital professionals through Intermountain’s intern training program.

Teacher Ed

The field of primary and secondary education is ever changing, and always in high demand. Experience the world of education through student teaching within the Park City School District. You will create a teaching portfolio by developing lesson plans, designing assessments, and teaching classes. You will earn classroom management techniques while interacting with students. The PCCAPS network includes admissions staff at the University of Utah’s College of Education. Students will tour the facilities and be able to meet meet professors and students currently enrolled in undergraduate and graduate level courses.
